gsm mobiles and linux

Access your Siemens or Ericsson phones memory via GSM and OBEX!

Siemens mobile phones

The S45 (ME45) was Siemens’ first phone featuring a big memory space and advanced organizer functions. Fine windows tools are provided for free but as I’m using linux only I needed linux tools though.

x25, x35, S45, ME45, SL45, S55, S65

To access the pure GSM features of your phone you can use gsmlib. My basic patches for Siemens Mobile Equipment are already included. You might want to try some new or experimental patches though.

S45 (ME45), S55, S65 Flex. Memory

I made a sample ObexFTP application to support Flex. Memory - you can access your mobiles 384K of storage directly now.

There are some GUIs and VFS modules for obex ftp too.

Siemens Voice Message Files (.vmo)

It turned out the Voice Message Files (.vmo) produced by older Siemens phones contain only plain GSM data after all. Each frame is padded with one byte though. For GSM encoding see The GSM Codec, GSM 06.10 lossy speech compression.
